Dyed to Order: Ice Wine Gradient Mohair
Mohair is the dreamiest, isn't it?? My favorite way to use it is held together with another yarn to create a fuzzy, soft focus, sweater.
I was struck with inspiration to use the mohair as a vehicle to create a faded look in my garment, rather than trying to fade several skeins of speckled yarns. For me, choosing a fade can be challenging and anxiety inducing! However, by holding my non-mohair yarn constant through out my project I can still create a dramatic faded look by adjusting the mohair color.
I am putting up the mohair in 25 gram hanks, 230 yards. This allows me to create several hues for a larger project but still keep it affordable.
You will find the option to purchase the 5 skein kit, as well as individual skeins within the set. This will allow you to get exactly the yardage you need for your next favorite knit!
****If you need extra yardage - think about how you want your fade to fill out.
If you want to be heavier on the dark colors, start by adding #4 or #5 and then work back to number one. For instance: If your project calls for 1400 yards of mohair, you will need a full kit plus one extra skein. If you want to lean dark, I would suggest getting another #4. If you wanted to lean more on the light side, I would suggest you add an extra skein of #2.
If you require 1600 yards of mohair, you will need two extra skeins. You could choose #2 and #3, #3 and #4, or #1 and #5. Make sense? You can completely customize how your fade will play out when you add your extra skeins.
