Garden Party Collaboration Kit
It felt like a LONG winter up here in Vermont. Throughout the fall I was able to visit with my pod by distancing outdoors for walks and open air play. Then winter settled in and most of the companionship I craved was shut down by the weather. I was rather lonely and missed my friends.
Now the daffodils are blooming, the days are getting warmer, and the sun is staying up longer. As long as we are careful, we can enjoy the company of our friends and family outside again!
A couple months ago I asked a few of my maker friends if they would like to collaborate on a garden party themed kit. Everyone was enthusiastic about celebrating flower beds full of blooms, picnic blankets spread out on green grass, and the good feeling of spending easy time with special people in our lives.
Take a look at these gorgeous pieces!
Caleb and Justin at The Bearded Purl have created the sweetest patchwork project bag. The fabrics they chose make me so happy, they remind me of my vintage tablecloth collection. It's their sock sized bag, which will comfortably hold a skein or two of yarn, your pattern, and notions.
I have two friends in town that are artists who have made special contributions. Annie makes the most wonderful double sided cloth napkins, perfect for your garden party snacking. She has sewn a set of 4 luncheonette sized napkins that measure just over 7" square, each with different fabrics for front and back. Tracy is a block printer and she has included a set of 4 cards with her stunning artwork with a spring/summer theme. I love her talent and have several pieces of her work on my walls.
I have dyed a special self-striping yarn called "I Brought You Some Flowers" and is inspired by the bright and happy blooms of Zinnias. I used the sw Targhee fingering base, which is wonderfully squishy and soft, as well as hard wearing. You will receive a 100 gram self striping skein plus a 20 gram mini.
I've included a packet of zinnia seed from High Mowing Organic Seed company, which is located here in Vermont. I was able to get the County Fair blend before they went out of stock! They include a warm-toned mix of pink, orange, purple, gold and cream blooms and should thrive in most planting zones.
Your kit will also include a 3" zinnia sticker for your water bottle, computer, planner, or anything else you want to beautify.
Kits go on sale tonight, April 27th, at 8 pm est. I hope this collection inspires you to share time outside among the flowers with your friends, and of course, your knitting.
